Who Will Be NZ’s Next Defence & Veterans’ Minister

In the next day or two, we will find out who will be in the Cabinet and, for those really interested in national security and veterans’ affairs, who will be the minister(s) holding those portfolios. It’s been a great point of discussion over the lead-up to the 2020 general election and since.

As a launch to the second season of the VoterTorque political podcast, my TorquePoint business partner Heather Roy (Former Associate Defence Minister and Captain RNZE [Retd]) and I speculate on who might get the role.

This is particularly important in the context of an election based entirely on the COVID-19 story to date and one in which there was almost no meaningful defence policy offered or discussed.

Blatant Advertising Bit: Have you read my short story trilogy “A Poke in the Fifth Eye”? It’s available in Kindle format for only 99c. A ripping good yarn about dirty bomb drone swarms in Wellington New Zealand, a couple of destroyed spy bases, an air force base on fire and only a hastily assembled bunch of Kiwi reservists standing between the terrorists and their ultimate goal. Doing well in the Amazon 45-Minute Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Short Reads rankings.

Coming soon – a Kiwi crime thriller involving gangs, drugs and some not so straight cops!
